Why do we need a dog hauling vehicle?
Many times when we receive Greyhound from the various tracks we are
having to bring 2-3 vehicles to transport the Greyhounds from the drop off
point to the kennel. By having a hauling vehicle we can now safely
accommodate 10-15 Greyhounds in it and only have to drive one vehicle to
transport the dogs.
How did you get the vehicle? Thanks to our
Partnership with Petco and the Petco Foundation Allies was able to get a
grant to cover most of the cost of the vehicle. We do have ongoing
maintenance for it, so we do gratefully accept any donations toward our new
dog hauling van!
What happens to them afterwords?
They are driven by Allies volunteers to the kennel where they are given
fresh water, food, a nice bed and a place to rest up after their long
journey. They will then be taken to the vet for their vet work-up and after
that is all done they are ready for a foster or forever family!
